But it didn't occur to him that this is precisely the problem with the secularised Novus Ordo. He added another truism: "An aberration, for example, would be a liturgy enslaved to rubricism, which does not promote union with God". In fact, the rubrics (i.e. the instructions on how a liturgy is to be celebrated) are so precise and detailed that they relieve the priest from being forced to be a showman who has to make up the course of what is to follow, focusing on the audience rather than on God.
