Cardinal notes “changing understandings of gender,” says Church must discern how to change.
At Leo XIV's meeting marking ten years of Amoris Laetitia on October 8, Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão delivered a speech on the challenges facing families in Asia. He is the President of the Conference of Bishops of India.
Discussing changes in the “identity, nature and composition of the family,” the cardinal observed that “new forms of partnership and cohabitation are emerging, amid changing understandings of gender and relationships in urban settings.”
Reflecting on what the Church has learned from its pastoral work, Ferrão declared: “Pastoral work is itself a place of discernment. We don't arrive with ready-made answers. We discern together with families and, in doing so, we learn how the Church herself is being asked to change.”
In his conclusion, the cardinal stated that “there is no single stereotype of an ideal family” and asked, “What is the Holy Spirit asking the Church to change – not …Saleuwihna

“The Creator is the source of human dignity, not the State.”
Cardinal Willem Jacobus Eijk of Utrecht, Netherlands, argued in an October 8 interview with LaNuovaBq.it that democratic majorities cannot determine fundamental human rights. Without recognition of God as Creator, the State assumes the power to decide who deserves legal protection and who does not, including unborn children. Eijk insisted that legislation must be grounded in natural moral law.
He also pointed to growing numbers of young Catholics in France, the Netherlands and England who embrace Church doctrine as a sign of hope.

Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller declared that the Marian title Co-Redemptrix expresses “a truth objectively contained in revelation”.
He said at the De Maria numquam satis conference in Rome on October 8 that the title is neither “a misleading attribution nor an enthusiastic exaggeration.”
“This title must not be silenced because of rejection by Protestants,” Cardinal Müller said, criticizing the Protestant understanding of justification for excluding man's free cooperation in redemption.
Cardinal Müller also rejected the objection that the title Co-Redemptrix appeared only in the late Middle Ages. “The fact that a truth of faith is contained in Revelation must not be confused with its conceptual formulation,” he said, comparing its development to the later theological formulation of Christological doctrines.
“Anyone who knows the rules of Catholic theology can find no reason for scandal in the analogical use of Christological and soteriological titles,” he added.

Australian Bishop Emeritus Christopher Saunders, 76, was sentenced on Wednesday to six years and six months in prison for sexually abusing two young Aboriginal men in Western Australia.
Saunders led the Diocese of Broome from 1996 until 2021. He was convicted in August of 12 counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual penetration. The offences occurred between 2008 and 2019. He was acquitted of six other charges and will be eligible for parole in February 2031.
Saunders stepped aside in 2020 following allegations of sexual misconduct and misuse of Church funds. An initial police investigation was closed in 2021 due to insufficient evidence.
During the trial, prosecutors alleged that Saunders used Church funds to provide young Aboriginal men with alcohol, cigarettes, cash and other benefits.
The Australian Catholic Bishops' Conference apologised to the victims following the sentencing, acknowledging the harm caused by the abuse and the betrayal of trust.

BRAVO, MAMDAMI! It takes true courage to tell the truth about the Gaza holocaust.

: Isabel Vaughan-Spruce has pleaded "not guilty" to fresh charges for standing and silently praying inside a "buffer zone". The new charges were presented at an ongoing hearing, in which Isabel's legal team is arguing that her prosecution amounts to an "abuse of process" and breaches her human rights to freedom of thought and religion. The judge has also commented that “standing is not a crime" and "Courts are not here to pass judgment on people’s views.”

“It’s very clear to me that there was more unity in the Church when we were living under Summorum Pontificum than we are now under Traditionis Custodes.”
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco made the remarks in an interview with TribuneChretienne.com on October 8.
He said that the radical liturgical changes following Vatican II had damaged, and in some cases even destroyed, Catholics’ faith.
Cordileone also pointed to a generational reversal: Young Catholics increasingly seek to recover tradition, while older generations remain attached to the changes introduced in their youth. What still feels new to the Vatican II generation, he observed, looks like a bygone era to young Catholics, who are searching for something timeless.

1. The Church has unity. Not "more or less" but unity (of Faith and worship) as the basis/basic characteristics. If there is no such unity, well, you should search for the Church in another place.
2. If he said: It’s very clear to me that there was the greater fiction of unity between the Church and the neo-modernist Revolution when we were living under Summorum Pontificum than we are now under Traditionis Custodes, I would say: true indeed but he prefers to present the false description/diagnosis.
3. No Catholic is "under Traditionis Custodes" as that tyrannical document is null and void. Only "dumb dogs" prophesized by Isaias (Is 56) - sleeping and loving dreams - are under it.

When Rabbis Become Untouchable: How Spiritual Authority Shielded Abuse
geopoliticsprime | Rabbi Moshe Yazdi told women who came to him for spiritual guidance that sexual acts were part of a necessary “spiritual correction.” In September 2026, the Jerusalem District Court sentenced him to 18 years in prison for offenses against two women.
His case shows how private spiritual counseling could give an abusive leader access to people seeking help with marriage, health and intimate problems. Speaking publicly could carry consequences beyond the encounter itself when families and religious institutions remained loyal to the rabbi.
In the cases examined here, criminal proceedings did not always end that authority. Convicted leaders returned to teaching or retained devoted followers, while closed communities extended control into family life and contact with the outside world.

Leo XIV sounds decentralizing: “new paths” for local Churches.
At yesterday’s meeting on Amoris Laetitia, Pope Leo XIV spoke of “the (alleged) fruits that Amoris Laetitia has borne in our local Churches.”
And then: “It will also help the local Churches to recognize new paths and to involve all the baptized more deeply in the Church’s synodal journey.”

Pope Leo XIV calls on the Church to gather the “fruits” of 10 years of Amoris Laetitia — saying they should nourish the whole Church and help local Churches “recognize new paths.”

“It felt like a nightmare.”
Canadian Cardinal Marc Ouellet has spoken about the four-year ordeal of being accused of sexual assault, after a Quebec court ruled in his favor in a defamation case and found the allegations against him unfounded.
Speaking to Rome Reports on October 7, Ouellet said: “It felt like a nightmare, a very difficult and costly experience, because I had to hire lawyers to defend myself, and this had an impact on my reputation, my moral authority, my health, and many other things.”
“I think that today, with all the cases that have been publicized, there's actually a presumption of guilt, and so I felt like I was under this cloud of suspicion and doubt.”
“I'm afraid the damage can't really be undone.”
